“Congratulations on the opening of the 10th Gwangju International Art Fair (Art Gwangju 19).

I welcome all of you to the Gwangju International Art Fair (Art Gwangju 19), that rebuilds our tradition and culture in Gwangju, a city of art and democracy.

Gwangju attracts the world’s attention by presenting the world of arts that have a tradition as well as modernity, including Gwangju Biennale and Honam's literary arts. Also, we have freshly renovated this wonderful art fair where the local art community and the local people come together to create a festive cultural scene.

This year, Art Gwangju 19 will be able to show new and interesting trends and artworks in the current art world with 18 international galleries in 12 countries, 73 domestic galleries, and 84 individual artists.

Not only is it a place of new opportunities and hopes for many artists who radiate artistic creativity and energy, but also of opportunities to showcase their artworks for galleries and art lovers across the country. Besides, the exchange of excellent artworks in this wonderful fair will also have a great impact on the local community with an economic effect of new cultural convergence.

Culture is now another productive and vital element of life. The artistic and cultural inspiration from artworks enriches and heals our lives.

I would like to express my gratitude to Art Gwangju with the fascinating artworks created by passionate artists, heartwarming people who join this fair that has a vitalizing cultural scene, and all the people who have worked hard to prepare for the Gwangju International Art Fair.
